An alternative style of Tuscan red from some friends who revived a wine region.
Translated as Cantina of the Toad - the bunch of friends behind the label accessed an old underground cellar/cave back in 2013.
The cellar had not been used for many years and the only inhabitant in there was a big toad that was looking after his territory!
The label clearly pays tribute to this. This teeny region boasted super old vines, but the grapes were being used for bulk blends and co-ops, and so the owners set about to change this.
When they first started back in 2013 it was totally illegal at the time they didn’t even have electricity for a while! Their wines are low intervention. This is 90% Sangiovese 10% mystery grapes from an old vineyard.
